The 2008 season has started and everyone is ready to go. Well, we haven't practiced in quite a while, but Rocky NEEDS to jump. It wasn't a great showing, but considering Rocky hadn't jumped at all in 3 months and hadn't jumped on a long dock set-up in 5 months, we were just anxiuos to see what would happen. Plus that water was COLD. The fact that he jumped in willingly everytime was enough. The water was about 40 degrees. And Rocky pretty much picked up where he left off. |

Grand Rapids was the first big road trip we took for an event. It is amazing how far you will drive in the winter, in Michigan, to get to a dock jumping event. By March, you are just desperate. The pool we used was shared with two boats, many fish and the lumberjack show. It was huge and the dogs were getting BIG air. Rocky was no exception and had 2 jumps over 18' and pulled out a new Personal Best of 18'10"! We are headed to Cincinnati next for a longer road trip and a bigger adventure! |

Rocky had jumps all over the place for this event, but we will blame that on handler error. Kristy tried to 'fix' what wasn't broke. His best jump of the weekend was 18'08". He had 3 jumps over 18', so he has definitely been improving. Even with the lack of practice on the water. He made it into the finals for the Senior division for the first time this season. He went in in fourth place and ended up 5th. Next up are the outdoor events and some practice before the next event. |
